SA 'racist video' trial postponed - 19 August
The case against four white former students in South Africa who allegedly forced black campus employees to eat urine-soaked food has been postponed. Bloemfontein District Court spokesperson Medupi Simasiku told the BBC that the court to allow the lawyers to make submission to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to reconsider prosecuting the former students. He said if the DPP grants their request the matter would be settled outside court. - BBC News website

Oilgate man in another scandal - 27 August
Sandile Majali, the enigmatic man at the centre of the Oilgate scandal, faces arrest. The pending arrest has nothing to do with the Oilgate scandal that erupted after it emerged that Majali, who has impeccable ANC connections, had allegedly signed lucrative oil contracts with Iraq, paying huge amounts of money to Saddam Hussein and channelling R11-million to the ANC. The Star has established that a warrant of arrest has been issued for Majali in connection with fraud, corruption and money laundering. The charges are in connection with with tenders issued by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education. - IOL website
