KZN whip : Free, free at last! - 13 August
The Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court erupted into songs of jubilation on Thursday morning after charges against former KwaZulu-Natal health MEC Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni and her two co-accused were dropped. Pressed for more information, as discussions had taken place in chambers, state advocate Hein van der Merwe said that the withdrawal all boiled down to a key witness not being in a position to testify because of severe stress. - IOL website

MEC fraud case withdrawn - 14 August
Former KwaZulu-Natal health MEC Peggy Nkonyeni, whose corruption case was dropped yesterday, believes she has suffered the same sort of wrongful persecution as President Jacob Zuma. The National Prosecuting Authority, however, said the case was not necessarily over. - The Times website
