wins as judge orders new Oilgate report - 30 July
Public Protector Lawrence Mushwana has been ordered to reinvestigate the
so-called Oilgate scandal. Almost two years after reserving judgment in an
application by the Mail & Guardian newspaper to set aside a 2005
report by the Public Protector into complaints regarding the alleged
misappropriation of public funds by PetroSA which allegedly ended up in
the coffers of the ANC, Judge Ntsikelelo Poswa yesterday finally handed
down a ruling. But he did not hand down his full judgment and is only
expected to do so today. - The

The High Court in Pretoria on Thursday set aside the Public Protector's
2005 report on the so-called "oilgate" scandal, involving a
payment by black empowerment company Imvume to the ANC. The order was
delivered by Judge Ntendeya Mavundla, on behalf of Judge Ntsikelelo Poswa,
before whom the matter was argued about 20 months ago. - iafrica
