Last-ditch effort to save market - 23 July
A last-ditch attempt by traders at the Early Morning Market in Warwick Junction to have the Durban High Court set aside the decision to close the market is being challenged by the eThekwini Municipality. The Early Morning Market Traders Association has brought an application in the Durban High Court to stop the closure and demolition of the market. It is also asking that the decision to evict the traders be reversed and that they be allowed access to the stalls to trade. When the matter came before court yesterday, it was adjourned to allow time for the municipality to file its opposing affidavit. - IOL website
