The KEBBLES HAVE LODGED COMPLAINTS AGAINST JUSTICE MINISTER PENUELL MADUNA AND THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS, BULELANI NGCUKA, with the Public Protector regarding alleged abuse of power ;  these refer to the fact that not only had Bulelani Ngcuka used his office to settle political and commercial scores on behalf of friends waging commercial battles against the Kebbles, but that notwithstanding what amounted to a serious breakdown in the justice system, no action had been taken against those involved in the unlawful arrest of Roger Kebble (Business Day 2004-01-22).

Ten midlands schools and their governing bodies won their case against the head of the KZN Education Department ; the issue was REDUCING TEACHER NUMBERS WITHOUT INFORMING SCHOOLS IN TIME.  The affected schools are Gert Maritz Primary, Ridge Junior Primary, Pelham Primary, Scottsville Primary, Clarendon Primary, Alexandra High, Maritzburg College, Ladysmith High, Vryheid High and Newcastle High (Witness 2004-01-22).

The Constitutional Court has indirectly found that it WOULD NOT BE UNCONSTITUTIONAL FOR ABUSED CHILDREN TO TESTIFY IN THE ABSENCE OF THE ACCUSED ;  the case involved Pietermaritzburg attorney Robinson Manzi (News24 2004-01-18).
