Durban

Zulu 'has not told a shred of truth' - 3 December
Durban businessman Sifiso Zulu seems determined never to explain, under oath, his version of the events of March 29 last year, when his BMW sped through a red robot, crashed into another car resulting in the deaths of two people. Although he is now firmly on the legal back foot, with a court ruling yesterday that the State had put up enough evidence to suggest that he had been driving that night, his advocate said he would not testify. - IOL website

Yengeni cop found guilty - 30 November
Siphiwo Hewana, a former Goodwood police station commander, was found guilty on Monday of attempting to defeat the ends of justice after he ordered police officers to tamper with evidence relating to a drink-driving charge against ANC stalwart Tony Yengeni. The evidence of nine State witnesses "fitted together like a jigsaw puzzle", magistrate Elsa van Zyl told the Parow Regional Court. - IOL website
