Competition Commission recommends 10% turnover fine for Telkom - 28 October
The Competition Commission has referred its findings of abuse of dominance against Telkom to the Tribunal for adjudication and has asked the Tribunal to levy an administrative penalty of 10% on Telkom's annual turnover for its financial year ended March 31. The investigation follows five complaints that were lodged by the Internet Service Providers Association and other internet service providers or ISP's, namely, Verizon South Africa, Multichoice Subscriber Management Services and Internet Solutions. - Business Day website

Telkom fights back in competition case - 29 October
Competition Commission's R3.6-billion fine recommendation may become null and void in upcoming appeal court ruling. The Competition Commission (CC) recently referred its findings of abuse of dominance against Telkom to the Competition Tribunal for adjudication, and has asked the Tribunal to levy an administrative penalty of 10% on Telkom's annual turnover for its financial year ended 31 March 2009.  Telkom’s annual turnover for its last financial year was R35.9-billion, which means that a 10% penalty will be in the region of R3.6-billion. - My Broadband website
